2 Acres of Parkland Sold for University Development in Phoenix

The City Parks blog reports that in May 2011, a Phoenix neighborhood lost 2.015 acres of municipal parkland when the city sold the land to the private, for-profit Grand Canyon University for its $200 million campus expansion plan.  Sound familiar?  In 2012, the university sought to purchase the remaining 13.8 acres but legal and electoral advocacy prevented the sale.
